We also drove 15 to 30 minutes to visit other restaurants for variety and also to pick up additional snacks for our room from the grocery store. Although we visited during the week, reservations for dinner are recommended. We ate in the restaurant every day for breakfast and two nights for dinner, and enjoyed the food. The staff at the Activities Desk were helpful in planning our day in Yosemite Valley. It was a nice gathering place to meet people and relax at the end of the day. Although we were travelling as an older couple, we went to the firepit nightly for S'Mores. Although the main purpose of our trip was to visit Yosemite, we actually decided to go out for only the morning one day so we could spend the afternoon enjoying some of the amenities such as the pool, hot tub, bocce ball and hiking trails that are right on the property. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rush Creek Lodge. We had our room cleaned only the first night then we went down and told them we didn’t want them to anymore, they took dirty towels in the floor and rehung them up didn’t change the bed sheets so I’m not exactly sure what that service entails. Lastly, the house keeping, when we checked in it almost seemed like they tried to detour us from wanting our room clean, but again for being somewhere for a week, spending $$$, and hiking all day, it’s nice to come back to a clean bed, towels and room. but no sorry it took so long we are short staff or backed up, whatever the case may be. That being said the wait times were also very long, on our last evening we ordered take out- a Caesar salad and fried cauliflower and it took over an hour. after the first, second night you should be somewhat friendly and remindful of them, there wasn’t many warm faces at the bar top. When you have a returning costumer for a week. Second, the service at the restaurant, being in the service industry there was just marks they missed. We asked to change our room as we were put in a “forest view” basically the service road corner… it happened but it took some effort. I get it, it might be hard to staff, but if you offer the services, you should ensure you can staff it. The staff gave us a heads up the day before and then comped a free use of the day use area, which was great, and we really appreciated it and made use of it. Lastly, we really wanted to enjoy the spa, but on our spa afternoon, the massage therapist was not able to come in. We wound up having to talk to a manager after the first two attempts on different days didn't sort our very simple issues. On walking up to ask a question or sort a concern, they often stared or looked at each other rather than embracing the customers and giving the customer the best experience. While out lodging was excellent and it was great being near the entrance to Yosemite, and having a nice pool and Spa, a couple things kept them from getting 5 Stars: The reception staff, who tended to be younger, were just not that excited for folks to show up or walk by, and literally didn't seem to want to say hello unless you said it first. Excellent mattress and the room was really nice, comfortable, and large. Changing rooms on the second day meaning packing everything up and unpacking everything twice, it was worth it for the pool view though and I do understand our choice to do so. We asked to change our room as we were put in a “forest view” basically the service road corner… it happened but it took some effort. For spending 1800, we took our luggage to our room, which could definitely use some love, scuff baseboards, dirty walls, very uncomfortable and what felt like old spring mattresses, and pillows with zero support or comfort.
